About

Built by specialists, for specialists

Specialty clinicians deserve better media — daily, credible, and written by someone who actually sees patients.

Mission

Medical media has a signal problem. Specialists are bombarded with content — journal alerts, CME modules, industry newsletters, social feeds — and almost none of it is worth their time.

The Med 5 was built on a different premise: that the best source of clinical intelligence for a specialist is another specialist. Not a content team. Not an algorithm. A practicing clinician who reads the same literature, treats the same patients, and has a point of view worth hearing.

We publish five things, every day, in every specialty we cover. No filler. No sponsored noise dressed up as editorial. Just the signal.

Values

Clinician-authored

Every word is written by a practicing, board-certified physician in that specialty. No exceptions.

Signal only

Five items, daily. If it doesn't make the cut, it doesn't run. Brevity is the product.

Editorial independence

Sponsors support the platform. They do not influence the editorial. Ever.

Built to grow

The network model means every new specialty strengthens every other. Scale without dilution.

Founder

Amit Om, MD, FAAD, FACMS

Founder, The Med 5 · Dermatologist & Mohs Surgeon

Amit Om is a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon practicing at Dermatology Group of the Carolinas in Charlotte, NC. He also operates a multi-state telemedicine dermatology practice across approximately 10 states.

He started The Derm 5 because he wanted a newsletter he'd actually read — concise, clinical, and written by someone with skin in the game. It grew faster than expected, attracted serious pharma partners, and made the case for a broader network.

The Med 5 is his attempt to build the medical media company he always wished existed: specialty-specific, physician-authored, and relentlessly focused on signal over noise.
